The play follows a group called the Women of Lockerbie, who are determined to turn an act of hatred into an act of love. The story begins with a couple trying to gain closure after the death of their son in the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. Hoping to find some remnant of their son’s remains, they meet the Women of Lockerbie, a group pleading with a United States government official to turn over the clothing of the victims. The play is inspired by the true story of these women who washed 11,000 articles of clothing and returned them to families around the world.
