Illinois State University’s Distinguished Professor of Neurobiology and Physiology Paul Garris will present at the School of Biological Sciences Seminar.
Garris, known for his research in the neurosciences, will give a talk titled Revisiting Compensatory Adaptation in Parkinson’s Disease at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, in 214 Moulton Hall. The seminar is free and open to the public.
Garris’ research on dopamine neurons, which serve an important role in mediating the brain’s functions from control of movement and emotions to cognition, has earned national and international recognition as well as grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the American Heart Association. He has presented his work in neurobiology internationally at conferences in countries such as Belgium and Sweden.
