CTLT fall programs underway

CTLT logoFall programming has begun at the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT), which offers professional development teaching and technology-related, professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. Many options do not require advance registration, but you will want to mark your calendars early so you remember to join the lively, useful conversations. For an overview of programming or to learn more, go to the CTLT website.

New this fall is a series of brown bag events on Fridays. No registration is required to attend these 60-minute, interactive conversations among colleagues. Just mark your calendar, pack a brown bag lunch and come to CTLT on the designated day.

CTLT’s Teaching Excellence Series is back with a new look this fall. Although we will once again be offering two series, each series will include only three sessions, making it – we hope – more feasible for individuals to attend all the sessions in a single series. You don’t need to register for these events either, but you’ll want to mark your calendar to make sure you have set aside time for these highly interactive sessions.

CTLT’s Early-Career Faculty Professional Development Circles offer faculty in their first, second or third years of service at Illinois State a combination of professional development and peer support. Join us for a series of lively conversations about surviving and thriving in the academy.

If you would like to have more group cohesion throughout the semester, then Teaching-Learning Communities (TLCs) are for you. TLCs are small groups of faculty (five to 12 members) who meet regularly each semester to discuss topics of shared interest. Each group establishes its own meeting schedule, and CTLT provides space (as requested) and limited funding for books and other relevant materials. Some TLCs will meet the needs of specific groups and some are topic-specific, but you will want to contact the TLC coordinator to see which group is right for you.

The Conversations with Authors series recognizes Illinois State University faculty publications that contribute to literature about teaching and learning. This fall we are offering two conversations with Illinois State University faculty authors that address issues of interest to our university community.

CTLT does require registration for its very popular Short Courses. Short Courses provide computer training opportunities for the faculty, staff and students of Illinois State University. Register for each workshop online. Click here for the calendar of events.

Questions about these events should be directed to Claire Lamonica, CTLT associate director, at cclamon@ilstu.edu or 438-7695.
