Illinois State University Provost Sheri Noren Everts has named Darrell Kruger, associate dean of the College of Education and American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow, as interim associate vice president for Graduate Studies, Research, and International Education.
Kruger came to Illinois State in August 2002. He is a historical geographer with research interests in South Africa and the U.S. and was awarded a Fulbright in 2006. While at Illinois State, he has administered a National Geographic Society Education Foundation $1.7 million endowment for geography education. In addition, he has taught curriculum and instruction and geography content courses in the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Since 2005, he has served as associate dean in the College of Education with Graduate Studies, Research, and International Programs in his portfolio. During his tenure, the College of Education has generated more than $40 million in external funding and he has developed new education abroad projects in Mexico and England.
A national search for the position will begin in the fall of 2012.
