Concerts on the Quad series continues

Photo of Concert on the QuadThis summer’s Concerts on the Quad series at Illinois State University continues with an evening of acoustic bluegrass music by The Special Consensus on Monday, July 11. The concerts, which are free and open to the public, begin at 7 p.m. on Mondays on the northwest corner of the Quad next to Cook Hall. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.

An Evening of Jazz will showcase the talents of Illinois State faculty and guests on July 18.  Singing Under the Stars on July 25 will feature guest singers from the Midwest Institute of Opera at Illinois State in a mini-performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, with narration from Australian stage director Brendan Moffitt and conducted by the Metropolitan Opera’s Joshua Greene.

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be presented in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. If that change of location is necessary, it will be announced after 5 p.m. on radio stations WGLT, WJBC and WBNQ.

Concerts on the Quad are presented by Illinois State University’s College of Fine Arts and School of Music in conjunction with the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and The Pantagraph.  Additional sponsors include Horine’s Pianos Plus and the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.
