Illinois State University Provost Sheri Noren Everts announced the appointment of Salvatore Catanzaro as assistant vice president for academic administration.
Catanzaro joined the faculty of the Department of Psychology as an assistant professor in 1988 and was promoted to full professor in 1999. In 2002, he was appointed associate dean for administration in the College of Arts and Sciences and was named executive associate dean in 2008. His duties while associate dean included budget, planning, personnel, research support, interdisciplinary programs and facilities coordination.
Catanzaro earned a B.A. in psychology from La Salle University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut. He teaches courses in personality and clinical psychology and conducts research on mood regulation, coping with stress and emotional disorders. He was recognized as a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science in 2009 and a Charter Fellow of the Midwestern Psychological Association in 2010.
