Faculty and staff are invited to an electric night.
The Good To Go project, from Illinois State’s Office of Sustainability and WGLT public radio, is helping to sponsor the EVening of EVs, a showcase of electric vehicles and screening of the documentary Revenge of the Electric Car.
The showcase, which runs from 5:30 to 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel & Conference Center ballrooms, will allow participants to examine and compare different electric vehicles. Dealers and owners will be on hand to answer questions and educate the public on electric vehicle transportation, including a display of electric-assist bicycles.
At 7 p.m. next door to the Marriott, Normal Theater will show Revenge of the Electric Car, followed by a Q&A with Stefano Durdic, the film’s executive producer, and EV Town and Normal Mayor Chris Koos. The movie, which follows four men in their very different races to get an electric car to the market, is rated PG-13 with parents strongly cautioned.
Admission to the EV showcase is free and will remain open during the movie. Admission to Revenge of the Electric Car at the Normal Theater is $6 a ticket.
An EVening of EVs is a community effort from Good To Go, the EV Town task force, the Town of Normal, Marriott Hotel, the producers of the film, the Sierra Club, O’Brien Mitsubishi and Plug-in Vehicle Solutions. In addition to the Tesla and Fisker, the showcase features the Mitsubishi i, Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and a 1976 Vanguard Citicar.
