Praise and the Critical Eye: The Effects of Praise on Motivation and Error Fixation is the topic of a lecture by Shannon Zentall, adjunct professor of psychology at Grand Valley State University, at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 18 DeGarmo Hall. This presentation is sponsored by the departments of Psychology and Curriculum and Instruction and the College of Arts and Sciences. Both colloquia are free and open to the University community.
Zentall’s research examines what factors predict the quality of attachment and how early parent-child interactions predict the child’s ability to function independently from parents.
Brad Morris, associate professor of psychology at Grand Valley State University, will present Am I Right or Am I Wrong? Inconsistency Detection Jumpstarts Knowledge Change at 2 p.m. the same day in 48 DeGarmo Hall. This presentation is sponsored by the Department of Psychology and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Morris’ research program is situated within developmental cognitive science. He is interested in the mechanisms underlying the development of language and cognition.
