Money Smart Week events at ISU

The fifth annual Money Smart Week started Saturday, April 2, with 100 sessions in various Bloomington-Normal locations.  The week is a partnerships between the Federal Research Bank of Chicago and more than 100 local businesses, nonprofits and schools.  The events at Illinois State University are listed below.

Car Shopping—and Car Loan Shopping
Tuesday, April 5, noon to 1 p.m. in 412 State Farm Hall of Business
Presenters: Thom Ewen and Paul Gaumer, ISU Credit Union

“In the know” advice on what to look for (and look out for) when going car shopping—and when seeking a loan for a new or used car purchase, including how to protect credit score to lower loan interest rates and how to get a credit report. Bring lunch.

Developing an Effective Retirement Strategy During Uncertain Times
April 7, noon to 1 p.m. in the Third Floor East Lounge, Bone Student Center
Presenter: David A. Schmidt, Ph.D., TIAA-CREF

It is always important to think about retirement goals and the plans made to achieve them. During this uncertain economic period, it is even more important to focus on the steps needed to help ensure the future. This presentation will examine the impact of good and bad investment years and discuss how employees can manage their retirement income during volatile times.
