Roger Anderson, BSC Emeritus, presented Midwest Oak Woodland and Savannah: Origins, Historic Changes, and Futuristic Trends and the poster Phenological Niche Separation from Native Species Increases Reproductive Success of an Invasive Species; Alliaria petiolata (Brassicaceae) – Garlic Mustard at the Third Midwest-Great Lakes Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration international meeting in Springfield. He also presented Prairies in the Prairie State for the State Farm Outdoor Club and Master Gardners - McLean County.

Fred Smith, SOA, presented Mirko Malez, Croatian Neandertals, and New Perspectives on Modern Human Origins at the annual meeting of the Croatian Geological Society in Zagreb, Croatia, and Research History, New Excavations and Alternative Interpretations of the Middle/Upper Paleolithic Interface in Croatia at the annual meeting of the Society of American Archaeologists in Sacramento, Calif.

Fred Smith, SOA, co-authored Archaeological, Paleontological and Genomic Perspectives on Late European Neandertals at Vindija Cave, Croatia, which was published in Continuity and Discontinuity in the Peopling of Europe: 150 Years of Neanderthal Study, and Late Epipaleolithic Infant Remains from Kaus Kozah Cave, Syria in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology Supplement 52.

Maria Ostendorf Smith, SOA, co-authored Differential Visibility of Treponemal Disease in Pre-Columbian Stratified Societies: Does Rank Matter? which was included in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology, Vol.144, and Temporal Trends in Diet and Oral Health in Prehistoric East Tennessee in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology Supplement 52.
