Ellen Ketterson, distinguished professor of biology and gender studies at Indiana University will present The Hormone in the Middle: Integrative Animal Behavior as Learned from an Adaptable Songbird, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, in 214 Moulton Hall.
Ketterson’s research areas include behavior, ecology and evolution. She takes an experimental approach to life-history evolution termed “phenotypic engineering.” By treating birds with hormones, documenting the phenotypic consequences of hormonal treatment and relating these consequences to fitness, Ketterson aims to understand how natural selection shapes organisms as integrated units.
The April 26 Report will be the last issue for the semester.
