Illinois State University Communication Sciences and Disorders Clinical Supervisor Mike Sharp is leading efforts to collect donations and supplies for schools for the deaf affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
"We're very pleased to offer this opportunity to help the hearing impaired victims of the disasters in Japan,” said Sharp. “With the support of caring members of the community, we can help these people get back to the lives they once had."
Sharp is encouraging monetary donations to the Educational Audiology Association’s effort in conjunction with the Marion Downs Hearing Center. Visit http://www.mariondowns.com/fom/index.htm and click Support Us Today and then choose the category Donate to Marion Downs Hearing Center Japan Schools.
Sharp himself is collecting hearing aid related items such as batteries, testers and cleaners, as well as everyday school supplies. These items can be addressed to Mike Sharp, Illinois State University, Campus Box 4720, Fairchild Hall, Normal, IL 61790-4720.
