The ISU Student Foundation (ISUSF) is requesting that all academic departments, schools and colleges help promote the Spirit Tassel Challenge to their students. Purchasing a spirit tassel can be done by phone, mail and online up until the week before Commencement ceremonies, and will allow students to choose which department on campus they want to support.
Students are asked to make a minimum contribution of $20.11, in honor of their graduating year of 2011. For their contribution, they will be given a commemorative red-and-gold tassel to wear at commencement. All Spirit Tassel Challenge participants will be specifically recognized during the ceremony. All proceeds will go to the specific area that the student designates, and the academic department or school with the highest number of student participants will receive an extra $500 bonus incentive.
ISUSF is an active registered student organization on campus, devoted to creating scholarships from students to students. ISUSF conducts the Spirit Tassel Challenge for both December and May graduation each year, inviting all students, both graduate and undergraduate, to participate. ISUSF promotes the challenge at Grad Finale by mailing a Spirit Tassel Challenge brochure to each graduating student, placing information on the University Advancement and Graduation Services websites and sending an email blast in late April. Additionally, there is now a Spirit Tassel Challenge website where students can participate online.
ISUSF would welcome the opportunity to present the challenge to any senior seminar class, prominent academic RSO/fraternity or class gathering. Any questions regarding the Spirit Tassel Challenge can be directed to the Illinois State University Student Foundation at 438-GIVE or StudentFoundation@Illinoisstate.edu.
The April 26 Report will be the last issue for the semester.
