American Muslim events April 22, 23

Photo of Altaf HusainAmerican Muslim leader and social worker Altaf Husain will present Faith-Inspired Citizens: A Closer Look at the Muslims of America on Friday, April 22, at 8:15 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room.  The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the American Muslims Weekend Conference sponsored by Illinois State University’s Muslim Student Association.

Husain's research interests include the integration of immigrant and refugee families, especially Muslim adolescents, in the United States. He serves as a faculty member of COMPASS – the state-of-the-art management training program of MSA National.

Other conference events will include the panel discussion You Have Questions, We Have Answers! on Saturday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room.  Illinois State Muslim students will present an open discussion on Muslims in America, in Bloomington-Normal and on campus.  The event is free and open to the public.

A free showing of the documentary film Abraham's Children will take place that evening at 8 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room.  The film tells the story of Muslim children in the New York School system.
