The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble, which will be performing in concert Oct. 24 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts, will appear at a School of Music convocation at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The five members of the Ensemble perform Eastern European, Balkan, Gypsy, Sephardic and Yemenite melodies. Each is an active, leading figure at the heart of the Israeli music industry. Each musician hails from their own distinctive cultural and ethnic background. Playing together, their combined music is full of rich melodies, impassioned singing and countless surprises.
