Illinois State University faculty, staff and students can now sign up for an innovative campus car share program offered through a partnership with the Hertz car rental company. The program, which allows participants to rent a car by the hour or by the day for a small fee, offers an economical, convenient and socially conscious alternative to car ownership.
Two Toyota Prius hybrids, a Ford Escape and a Mitsubishi Galant are located on campus for rental through the Connect by Hertz program. The car share plan utilizes a paperless program so members can reserve the cars via the Internet or phone. Membership will also include insurance, fuel, roadside assistance, maintenance and cleaning.
To register for the program, visit www.connectbyhertz.com and click the Illinois State University link. The application fee is waived for faculty, staff and students, and the first year’s membership is free with the use of one of the following promotional codes: students –186220 and faculty/staff – 65471.
