Guest cellist to present recital today

Cellist Betsy Husby, along with pianist Alex Chernyshev, will present a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. today in Kemp Recital Hall.

Visiting artist lecture March 18

Sarajevo-born artist Endi Poskovic, best-known for his large-scale color woodcuts, is a visiting artist in the School of Art through March 18. He will work with students in the intaglio classroom creating a woodblock print with students and will exhibit and discuss his work.

University Club features Andrew Huot on March 19

Huot will present "Reading Art: Artists' Books in the Milner Library Collection."

Trumpet virtuoso Stamm headlines Jazz Festival March 19, 20

Trumpeter Marvin Stamm – a big band soloist, first-call studio musician, recording artist and an internationally active music educator – will be the guest artist at the annual ISU Jazz Festival March 19 and 20 at Illinois State University.

Award-winning quartet to perform March 21

An award-winning, all-saxophone quartet called the h2 quartet will present a 1 p.m. master class and a free 5 p.m. recital on Sunday, March 21, at Illinois State University’s Kemp Recital Hall.

Lois Lenski lecture to feature Michael Cart

Author and champion for young adult literature Michael Cart will present the 17th annual Lois Lenski Children’s Literature Lecture at 7 p.m. Monday, March 22, in 130 Schroeder Hall.

New Music Festival March 22-25

Four free evening concerts showcasing new musical compositions from around the world will be offered to the public during the third annual School of Music New Music Festival, March 22 to 25, at Illinois State University.

Poet David Baker to give reading of his works on March 24

Baker's reading of his works will be at 7 p.m. in the University Galleries.

Arab music subject of March 24 seminar

“Arab Music: Studies in Performance Practices, Genres and Musical Interpretation” will be the topic of a presentation by Issa Boulos on Wednesday, March 24, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Third Floor East Lounge.

Ionesco's 'Rhinoceros' at Westhoff March 24-28

“Rhinoceros,” the absurdist play by Eugene Ionesco that explores conformity, culture, philosophy and morality, will be presented by Illinois State University’s School of Theatre from March 24 to 28 in Westhoff Theatre.

Touring art gallery on wheels on campus March 24, 25

Artstream Nomadic Gallery, which shows a premier collection of contemporary utilitarian ceramics by some of the country’s most well-known clay artists, will be at Illinois State University March 24 and 25.

Annual retirement recognition event set for May 3

President and Mrs. Al Bowman will host faculty, administrative/professional and civil service retirees on Monday, May 3, for the annual retirement dinner at the University Residence.

Graduate Research Symposium March 26

Close to 170 Illinois State University graduate students will participate in the 19th Graduate Research Symposium on Friday, March 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom.

SURS offers retirement education seminars

The seminars will be held on April 22 and May 18 at the SURS Office in Champaign.
