The Illinois State University vice presidents have named Mark Walbert the University chief technology officer and deputy CIO.
Walbert will be focusing on four initiatives during the next 18 months.

Walbert started at Illinois State in 1984 as a faculty member in the Department of Economics, where he served for 15½ years. He was previously director of Faculty Technology Support for three and a half years and most recently served as associate vice president of Academic Information Technology in the Provost’s Office for the past six years. Walbert received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of New Mexico.
