Campus Dining Services is getting students, faculty and staff involved in the kitchen. Starting Sept. 1, Redbirds faculty, staff and students are invited to submit their own favorite recipes for possible inclusion in Campus Dining’s menu rotations at all three dining centers.
Redbird Recipes can be submitted via an online form at www.Dining.ilstu.edu, or they can be picked up at all three dining centers through Sept. 30. All recipes will be reviewed by Campus Dining’s team of chefs, and three finalists will be selected and featured during Homecoming Week. Dining center guests will get to vote on their favorite dish, which will be added to the menu rotation.
“The Redbird Recipe Contest is a great way to get students and the University community involved in what we are doing in Campus Dining,” said Arlene Hosea, director of Campus Dining Services. “We know we have some phenomenal cooks out there, and we want to celebrate the culinary talents of our students, faculty and staff. What better way than to showcase their ‘signature dishes’ in our dining facilities.”
In addition to having their recipe added to the menus, the winner will also receive a personalized token acknowledging them as the 1st Annual Redbird Recipe Contest Winner.
According to Tracy Widergren, marketing coordinator for Campus Dining, “The Redbird Recipe Contest is just one of many events we have planned for our meal plan holders and dining center guests during the fall semester, including a similar recipe contest that will be open to students’ parents and family members – the Tastes Like Home Recipe Contest will launch in October and will work very similarly to the Redbird Recipe Contest.”
