ISU’s School of Music Presents Prism Concert

Contact:Kathy Beal

The School of Music continues its Homecoming tradition with the presentation of the annual Prism Concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.

"Prism" is what Illinois State University's School of Music calls its Homecoming week, non-traditional concert that features the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds as well as a large number of chamber ensembles and soloists in a fast-paced performance, without breaks or interruptions of applause, until the end.

Admission is $8 for the general public, $7 for faculty and staff and $6 for students and senior citizens.  Children 6 years of age and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at the CPA box office from noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and prior to the concert.

An array of ensembles, including concert bands, jazz ensembles, brass and woodwind quintets and percussion as well as student soloists present a continuous stream of performance, "fusing" the music of several ensembles into a continuous stream of sound. Special lighting effects add to the event, providing the audience with a sampling of the very best the School of Music has to offer.
