The Illinois State University Equestrian Club Hunt Seat Team will hold its second annual Horse Show at Hunter Oaks Farm in Carlock, Ill., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free and open to the public.
The Illinois State equestrians will compete against eight other colleges and universities. Riders will be judged on their handling of the horses over fences of various heights, ranging from two feet to three feet. They will also compete on flat surfaces, which includes judging on the horse’s walk, trot and canter. The hunt-seat style of riding is based on the tradition of fox hunting .
