Illinois State University’s Board of Trustees approved the naming of buildings in Cardinal Court and the naming of an endowment and landscape memorial on campus.
Five Cardinal Court residential buildings will be named after trees found on campus. Every year since 2008, Illinois State has earned the Arbor Day Foundation’s “Tree Campus USA” designation, reflecting the beauty and diversity of the campus landscape. Cardinal Court will be landscaped with a variety of trees, plants and walking paths in keeping with the Tree Campus USA honor. The five buildings will be called Birch Hall, Cypress Hall, Dogwood Hall, Evergreen Hall and Fir Hall.
An endowment and landscaping memorial on campus, the Billy Quigley Memorial Endowment Fund, will be named in honor of William “Billy” Quigley Jr., a student leader and honor student who was passionate about engaging students in campus programs and activities. Quigley earned a position on the executive board of the University Program Board as director of membership and on the executive board for the Campus Involvement Ambassadors.
