Geography-Geology Ridgley Lecture March 25

Joseph P. Stoltman will deliver the Department of Geography-Geology Douglas Clay Ridgley Lecture Geography: Future, Past, and Present at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 25, in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room. A 3:30 p.m. reception will precede the lecture.

Stoltman is a geography and science education professor at Western Michigan University and past president of the National Council for Geographic Education. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in both the geography and science education programs and directs doctoral student research in Earth science education. He has served as project evaluator for the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education as well as directed the work of program evaluation teams for the State of Michigan and Western Michigan University. He is on the Research Committee of the Roadmap for Geography Education funded by the National Science Foundation.

This lecture is sponsored through a gift from the George and Martha Means family. Douglas Clay Ridgley was the first chair of the Department of Geography at Illinois State Normal University and an early leader in the development of Geography nationwide.
