The Educational Administration and Foundations Department at Illinois State University has presented its Ben C. Hubbard Leadership Award to Linda Tomlinson, Illinois State Board of Education, and Deborah Meisner-Bertauski, Illinois State Board of Higher Education. This award recognizes the achievements of any Illinois citizen who has promoted, championed, or achieved one or more significant goals benefiting education in Illinois.
The department recognized the significant effort on the parts of these two individuals in making it possible for the redesign of all principal preparation programs across Illinois through the passage and implementation of Public Act 096-0903. For six years Tomlinson and Meisner-Bertauski have brought together over 1300 stakeholders to discuss what future principals should learn to meet the challenges of 21st century schools. This ISBE-IBHE effort serves as an example of positive collaboration among state agencies. The department's Hubbard Leadership Award recognizes their leadership, dedication, and service to Illinois education.
Ben C. Hubbard was the dean emeritus of the College of Education at Illinois State University from 1979-1982 and served as a professor of Educational Administration from 1961-1982, receiving recognition as a distinguished university professor.
