A team of students from Illinois State University's Athletic Training Education Program took first place in a quiz bowl competition at the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) meeting in Philadelphia, June 24. Illinois State defeated nine other NATA district teams from across the nation.
Illinois State student team members were Bria Noel, Ottawa; Rob Lynall, East Peoria; Bobby Delmore, Bourbonnais; and Kristin Defenbaugh, Rockford. The first prize in the quiz bowl competition was $1,000 to support the work of Illinois State's Athletic Training Education Program. Questions in the quiz bowl focused on various aspects of athletic training education and professional practice.
Illinois State's team advanced to the NATA national quiz bowl after winning a statewide competition in November, 2009, and a regional competition this past March.
