Midwest Composting School May 31 - June 2

Illinois State University will host the 2011 Midwest Composting School, May 31 - June 2.  The three-day workshop offers comprehensive training in compost production and marketing.

The 2011 Midwest Composting School will feature sessions on topics such as handling of composting feed stocks, enhancement of compost quality, sampling and analytical processes, environmental regulation, compost soil application rates, composting food and landscape waste, and the marketing of composted material.

The school focuses on a combination of hands-on training, lecture and discussion, compost facility operator panel discussions, problem solving exercises and a tour of Central Illinois compost facilities. Most workshop sessions will be held at the Illinois State University Farm near Lexington and on the Illinois State campus. The event is co-sponsored by the University of Illinois Extension.

Cost of the workshop is $375.  Late registration after May 9 is $450.  Registration information is available at conferences.illinoisstate.edu/midwestcompostingschool
