Illinois State's BOT Approves Naming of Rooms and Dugout

Date: 2/18/11

Contact: Kathy Beal

Illinois State University's Board of Trustees approved naming of two rooms and a dugout.

Room 104 in the Vrooman Center has been named as the "Eleanor Kong Conference Room" in honor of Kong's dedication and service to Illinois State University.  Kong was a residence hall coordinator in Walker Hall and co-founder and past-president of the Asian Pacific American Coalition.

The Police Department Conference room in the Nelson Smith Building will be named as the "Detective Anthony (Tony) Hosey Conference Room" in honor of the late detective.  Hosey was assigned to the criminal investigation division and deployed to the Task Force 6, a regional undercover narcotics suppression unit.  He received the Meritorious Service Medal for two consecutive years for his efforts in combating illegal drug sales.

The first base dugout at Redbird Stadium will be named as the "Craig Bouchard First Base Dugout" in honor of the alumnus.  Bouchard, a baseball letter winner who played for Coach Duffy Bass, is a contributor to the intercollegiate baseball stadium project.
