Symphony Orchestra to Open Season with Works by Mozart, Tchzikovsky, Dvorak

School of Music faculty violinist Sarah Gentry and violist Katherine Lewis will join the Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra in performing Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.

Admission to the concert is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty-staff and $4 for students and senior citizens.  Tickets are available at the CPA box office from noon to 5 p.m. weekdays or by calling (309) 438-2535.

Under the direction of Professor Glenn Block, the orchestra will open its season also performing Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor, opus 36; and will begin its performance with Antonin Dvorák's Carneval Overture, opus 92.

From Oct. 6 to 8, the Symphony Orchestra will make a concert tour to high schools in Urbana, Peoria, Naperville, Wheaton, New Lenox, Lincolnshire, Hoffman Estates and Elmhurst.
