Flutist Kim Risinger and guitarist Angelo Favis, who comprise the Linden Duo, will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Kemp Recital Hall at Illinois State University. The performance is part of the Charles W. Bolen Faculty Recital Series, named for the emeritus dean of the College of Fine Arts at Illinois State.
Their program will include pieces by J.S. Bach, Dusan Bogdanovic, David Leisner and a piece by Francois Borne that is based on the music of Bizet.
Risinger and Favis have performed together since 1996, providing audience with innovative programming as well as artistry. They have given concerts throughout the United States and Canada and have been featured at several new music festivals throughout the country, such as the New Music Festival at Lewis University, the 7-11 Festival of Contemporary Music at the University of Illinois and the annual conferences of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) and the Association for Technology in Music Instruction (ATMI).
They performed the world premieres of Matthew Halper's Sonata for Flute and Guitar and Stephen Taylor's Seven Microworlds for Flute, Guitar, and Electronics, both of which were written for and dedicated to them. The duo also appears on vol. 12 of the Music from SEAMUS series of recordings.
