"The Women's Movement in Iran: The State, Cultural Frames, and Global Links" will be the subject of a presentation by Valentine M. Moghadam on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 12-1 p.m. in the Bone Student Center 3rd Floor East Lounge. The event is free and open to the public.
Moghadam is a professor of sociology and director of women's studies at Purdue University. Her research and teaching focuses on the sociology of gender, gender and development, globalization and transnational social movements and the sociology and political economy of the Middle East and North Africa. Moghadam was a faculty member at Illinois State University from 1996 to 2005.
Her presentation is part of Illinois State University's International Studies Seminar Series exploring topics in global politics and culture. The seminar series is organized by the Unit for International Linkages, Office of International Studies and Programs, and the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
