Illinois State University's Homecoming 2009 Gala will move to the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom, but organizers promise the same high level of excitement, great food and dancing.
Construction delays at Uptown Normal's Marriot Hotel and Conference Center prompted the change in location for the Saturday, Oct. 17, Gala. The black-tie optional event is a time to recognize the partnerships forged with the alumni and friends of Illinois State University and the Bloomington-Normal community. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 6:30 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by dinner and a brief program. Attendees will also enjoy live music by Tom Marko and Sally Weisenburg and Her Famous Sidemen.
"The Gala is the crowning jewel of a great Homecoming week for Illinois State, and we've already received a tremendous response from the campus community, alumni and local residents," said Dianne Ashby, vice president for University Advancement. "Our Alumni Affairs staff will turn the Brown Ballroom into an exciting atmosphere that can accommodate everyone who wants to celebrate Homecoming 2009."
Reservations for the Gala are required, and the cost is $50 per person. RSVP online by Oct.2 or by calling (309) 438-3204.
