Taimur Sullivan, a professor of Music at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and the baritone saxophonist of the acclaimed PRISM saxophone quartet, will be on the Illinois State University campus Oct. 31 for a 2 p.m. master class and on Saturday, Nov. 1, for a recital, both in Kemp Recital Hall.
Admission to both is free and open to the public.
Sullivan enjoys a prolific international career as a soloist, chamber musician and member of the PRISM Quartet, which is known as one of America's foremost chamber ensembles. His performances have taken him from the stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to engagements in Moscow, London, Germany and throughout Latin America. Since 1994 he has been the principal saxophonist for numerous ensembles in New York City has recorded for the Mode, New World, Albany, Capstone, Innova, AUR, Mastersound, Bonk and Zuma record labels.
Sullivan also serves on the faculty of the Contemporary Performance Program at the Manhattan School of Music.
