5th Annual Rocky Horror Picture Show Oct. 30, 31

A combined live performance and film production of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31, in Capen Auditorium. 

The evening's entertainment, presented by Theatre of Ted, a registered student organization at ISU, will include a Virgin Ceremony (for Rocky Horror newcomers) beginning at 7:30.

Tickets for Rocky Horror are $5, available only at the door on the night of the performance.  The first 100 patrons each night will get a free prop bag to use during the show.  The show's content is not appropriate for children or those easily offended.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a 1975 cult film with an all-star cast that included Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf.  For more than 30 years, audiences have been entertained by making fun of (and with) the film, dressing up like the characters, and coming up with humorous added lines to interact with film's dialogue.

The production performed at Capen Auditorium will combine the classic film with a fully rehearsed and choreographed live cast performing simultaneously in front of the screen. Audience members are encouraged (though not required) to dress up as characters from the movie (or in their own Halloween costumes) and to participate by using appropriate props, yelling out lines, and dancing the Time Warp.

During the Virgin Ceremony immediately preceding each performance, patrons new to the Rocky Horror experience will be brought on stage to learn some of the basics of interacting with the show, as well as learning that sometimes it's OK to yell at the screen.

Capen Auditorium is located on the second floor of Edwards Hall, just south of the intersection of College Avenue and University Street in Normal.  Parking is available in the Bone Student Center lot for a small hourly charge.  More information is available at Theatre of Ted's website, DareToSuck.com
