Wendell Potter, senior fellow on health care with the Center for Media and Democracy, will be the featured speaker at a panel discussion on national and local health care issues on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 7-9 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. The program is free and open to the public.
Potter, a former vice president of the CIGNA Insurance Company, is now a vocal critic of for-profit insurance companies and an advocate for health care reform. He has been interviewed by numerous media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, National Public Radio, Bill Moyers Journal and the News Hour with Jim Lehrer.
Other panelists will be Shirley Drazewski, executive director of the Community Health Care Clinic, Roger Hunt, president and CEO of BroMenn Healthcare System and Jane Turley, instructional assistant professor in Illinois State University's Department of Health Sciences.
The event is co-sponsored by The League of Women Voters of McLean County, Campaign for Better Health Care, Interfaith Social Justice Network, and the Student Health Information Management Association.
