Marketing African Misery Subject of Seminar Oct. 28

Product Red: The Marketing of African Misery" will be the subject of a presentation by Teresa Barnes on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 12-1 p.m. in the Bone Student Center 3rd Floor East Lounge.  The event is free and open to the public.

Barnes is an associate professor in the Gender and Women's Studies Program and the Department of History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Her research focuses on gender issues in African culture and history, the Atlantic slave trade and post-colonial Africa.  

Her presentation is part of Illinois State University's International Studies Seminar Series exploring topics in global politics and culture. The seminar series is organized by the Unit for International Linkages, Office of International Studies and Programs, and the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
