"In the Blood," a modern take on Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter," will be presented by the School of Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 to 24 and 2 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 in Westhoff Theatre at Illinois State University.

"In the Blood" will be directed by Associate Professor Janet Wilson.
Written by 2002 Pulitzer Prize in Drama winner Suzan-Lori Parks, "In the Blood" follows Hester, a single mother of five, as she approaches each child's father for support in raising her children.
Parks, who won the Pulitzer Prize for her play "Topdog/Underdog," has been the recipient of Obie Awards for her plays "Venus" and "Imperceptible Mutabilities in the Third Kingdom," and in 2001 received a prestigious MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Grant.
