Homecoming Week, Oct. 12 to 18, is a time of year when the Illinois State University family and families come together to get reacquainted, celebrate their memories and simply have fun. U High and ISU alumnus Ted Nichelson will enjoy all of that, but he is coming back to campus because of another family - television's Brady Family.
Nichelson, the author of "Love to Love You Bradys," will speak at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Milner Library. His presentation, which will be moderated by WGLT-FM's Laura Kennedy, will be followed by a book signing. Actress Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady on "The Brady Bunch," will be part of the presentation via speaker phone.
Nichelson, who earned a master of music degree at Illinois State in 1996, is a writer, musician, entrepreneur and pop culture historian. He holds a master's degree in harp from the University of Michigan and a doctor of arts degree in harp performance and music education from Ball State University. His bachelor's degree is from Illinois Wesleyan University.
More than a casual Brady fan, Nichelson is an avid collector of Brady Bunch memorabilia and is the author of the award-winning website, "Complete Guide to the Brady Bunch Hour." He also designed the "The Official Geri Reischl Website," celebrating the young actress who replaced Eve Plumb ("Jan Brady") in "The Brady Bunch Hour," a musical revival of the original show in which Plumb refused to appear. Reischl became known as "Fake Jan."
