As the fall semester draws to a close, three bands in the Illinois State University School of Music will join forces in a joint concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty-staff and $4 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased at the CPA box office from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays or by phone at (309) 438-2535.
The Symphonic Band, conducted by Dan Belongia and Jennifer Moder, will perform Charles Carter 's Overture for Winds, Brian Hogg's "Llwyn Onn" (The Ash Grove) and Ron Nelson's "Courtly Airs and Dances. Belongia is director of ISU's marching band and Moder is a graduate student in music education.
Belongia will then conduct the Symphonic Band performance of Howard Hanson's Chorale and Allulua, Howard Hanson's "Chorale and Alleluia" and part one of Alfred Reed's "Armenian Dances." Closng the concert will be the Symphonic Winds, conducted by Director of Bands Stephen Steele, performing "The Heart of God" by Kevin Krumenauer and "Festivo" by Eddward Gregson.
