A silent auction for four framed works of art and the sale of reasonably priced art will mark the 25th annual Printmakers' Exhibition and Sale at Illinois State University's School of Art on Dec. 4. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in room 123 of the Center for the Visual Arts. Admission is free.
The annual art sale has become a community favorite, allowing member of the campus and community to buy original artworks in the form of prints created by ISU students, faculty and staff. Hundreds of prints are on display with most prices ranging from $2 to $50.
Silent auction items are "California, Ohio, Illinois," a 10" by 16" monotype print by faculty member Sarah Smelser; "The Quiet Kind," an 11" by 11" relief and etching by graduate art student Nick Satinover; "GroundCover--Spring and Summer," a 21" by 17 ½" three-color lithograph by Chicago artist Julia Fish; and "Heartland VIII," a 21" by 28 ½" six-color lithograph by Distinguisher Professor Emeritus Harold Gregor.
Minimum bid on the Julia Fish work is $350, minimum bid on the Gregor or Smelser works is $300, and minimum bid for the Satinover work is $150. Written bids must be submitted before or during the sale no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 4 to Richard Finch or Veda Rives. Bids can be submitted in person, by USPS or by e-mail to normaleditionsworkshop@ilstu.edu Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. and the winners do not need to be present.
All proceeds from the sale and silent auction will go to support the ISU Printmaking program in the School of Art.
Works by students and faculty in the ceramics program also will be available for sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the "airport lounge" on the first floor of the Centennial Building. The jewelry program also will be represented with a table of items for sale in that location.
