The H1N1 flu shot will be available to priority groups of Illinois State University students on Sunday, Nov. 15, from noon to 6 p.m. (or until the approximately 2,000 doses are distributed) at Redbird Arena.
Priority groups include students aged 18-24; students under 18 who can provide proof of approval by parent or guardian; students between the ages of 25 and 64 who have an underlying condition as specified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); students who are pregnant; and students who live with or care for an infant less than 6 months old.
"Students who fall into these groups should take advantage of the clinic while supplies are available," said Student Health Services Director Dwayne Sackman. "The vaccine provides an essential form of protection to those most vulnerable to the effects of H1N1 in addition to helping mitigate the spread of the virus throughout the rest of the community. We want to thank the McLean County Health Department for providing us with the vaccine to distribute to our students."
Students seeking vaccination must show an Illinois State University ID card and be prepared to show proof of age. Subsequent clinics may be held, depending on availability of vaccine and supplies.
