Illinois State University's Board of Trustees today approved leasing a modular facility for expansion of Mennonite College of Nursing.
Since merging with Illinois State in 1999, Mennonite College of Nursing has seen enrollment increase to 377 students in fall 2009. The lease of a new modular nursing laboratory building will accommodate assessment labs, classrooms, patient simulation areas and offices. Simulation is becoming a larger, necessary component of clinical nursing education. The proposed structure would be located at the corner of Locust Street and Normal Avenue, where the Modular Faculty Office Building is currently located.
The Trustees approved a project budget of $2.1 million, excluding financing costs. The lease will involve a five-year payback period.
