Illinois State University English Professor Jan Susina will speak about his new book, "The Place of Lewis Carroll in Children's Literature," on Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Founders Suite. The Friends of Milner Library 2010 Spring Speaker event is free and open to the public.
Susina's book explores how Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass stories have influenced not only children's literature, but popular culture as a whole. Carroll's entrepreneurial genius for developing and marketing a number of book and non-book items based on the Alice stories is also examined.
Susina teaches courses on children's literature and has devoted years to researching Carroll's life and works. The Place of Lewis Carroll in Children's Literature is published by Routledge.
