BOT Approves Tuition, Fees and Room/Board Rates

Date: 7/31/09

Contact: Kathy Beal

Illinois State University's Board of Trustees today approved 2009-10 tuition, fees and room and board rates.

New undergraduate full-time students from Illinois will pay $276 per credit hour in tuition for the 2009-10 academic year, an increase of $20 per credit-hour from last year. The new students will continue to pay this rate through summer of 2013.

New out-of-state full-time undergraduate students will pay $468 per credit hour for the 2009-10 academic year.  Keeping the amount the same as last year's tuition will contribute to the University's priority to recruit more out-of-state students.

Illinois State University fees are included in the four-year guarantee, assuring students and parents that fee rates will not change from year to year.  The fees, excluding health insurance, for the 2009-10 academic year full-time new students will be $64.30 per credit hour, an increase of $3.90 from last year's fees.

Residence hall rates depend on which area of campus students live and in what type of room (multiple occupancy, single or super single), with rates increasing by 6.3 percent from the 2008-09 academic year.

Students living in South Campus or Watterson Towers will pay $4,190 for a multiple occupancy room, $5,572 for a single, $6,410 for a super single, $5,656 for a multiple occupancy room in a suite and $7,164 for a super single in a suite.  Students living in West and East Campuses will pay $4,590 for a multiple occupancy room, $5,972 for a single, $6,810 for a super single, $6,056 for a multiple occupancy room in a suite and $7,564 for a super single occupancy in a suite.

Meal plan rates are divided into residential plans, off-campus plans and door rates, with rates increasing by 5 percent from the 2008-09 academic year.  A residential plan that includes seven days of unlimited meals will cost $3,992. An off-campus plan that includes seven meals per week will cost $1,908, and door rates are $5.50 for breakfast, $7.75 for lunch and $9.00 for dinner.
