Flutist Brian Luce of the University of Arizona School of Music faculty will present a morning master class and a 7 p.m. recital on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Illinois State University. Admission to the recital in Kemp Recital Hall is free and open to the public.
Luce will give a free master class at 10 a.m. in Kemp Recital Hall. His recital will include works by Anthony Plog, Anatoly Boyarsky, Jindrich Feld, Galina Smirnova and Eldin Burton. Luce will be accompanied by pianist Patty Foltz.
Praised for his "technical agility" and "lyric power," Luce is a member of the Arizona Wind Quintet. Previously he was principal flute of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and several other orchestras, and has performed with the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Bach Society, Dallas Wind Symphony and Keystone Wind Ensemble.
A master's and doctoral degree graduate of the University of North Texas, Luce won prizes in the National Flute Association, Myrna Brown, Mid-South and Kingsville International young artist competitions, and his articles on performance and pedagogy have appeared in Flute Talk Magazine.
