Viola Professor Kate Lewis and Three Guest Artists in Jan. 13 Recital

The first music recital of the spring semester at Illinois State University will feature three guest artists performing with violist Kate Lewis of the School of Music faculty.  The free recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, in Kemp Recital Hall, and is part of the Charles W. Bolen Faculty Recital Series.

The three guests, as well as Lewis, are alumni of the Midwest Young Artists, a Highland, Ill.-based pre-college youth orchestra and chamber music program.  Julie Fisher, Robert Bassill and Mandy Dennis will join Lewis for an evening of string quartets by Haydn, Beethoven and Bartok.

Fisher, Bassill and Dennis are currently members of the Midwest Young Artists faculty.  Bassill is also the orchestra director at Lake Forest High School and is the MYA chamber music program coordinator and string chamber music coach.
