Illinois State University will present Marketing Professor Stephen Goodwin with the University Outstanding Service Award at the Founders Day Convocation on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. Judith Briggs, Art, will receive the University Service Initiative Award.
Goodwin is the editor of the "Journal of Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction and Complaining Behavior" and chaired the 2008 international conference of the organization. He is a member of the Journal of Global Academy of Marketing Science editorial board and reviews textbook prospectus and manuscripts for the Journal of Retailing, Marketing Management Association, Journal of Consumer Satisfaction/Dissatisfaction and Complaining Behavior and the Society for the Advancement of Marketing.
Goodwin served as the chair of the five-year review of the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, member of the "Writing for Publication" panel and a mentor for the University Scholars Support Program. He has served as a member of the Illinois State Graduate Council, the Graduate Council Curriculum Sub-committee, the State University Retirement System Members Advisory Council, University Hearing Panel, as co-chair of the University Research Council, member of the search committee for the president of Illinois State, chair of the search committee for the director of Bone Student Center and faculty mentor for resident hall assistants, among many other committees.
Briggs has served as a member of the Urban Teacher Preparation Steering Committee, Urban Teacher Preparation Chrysalis Program mentor, member of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant team, Illinois State Academic Senate, as session chair for the University-wide Teaching and Learning Symposium, member of the New Faculty Orientation Committee, University Hearing Panel and the Performance Based Assessment Revisions Committee, among many other committees and programs.
The University Service Awards recognize and honor faculty members who have demonstrated excellence in service to Illinois State University. Goodwin will receive $3,000, and Briggs will receive $500.
