Bassoonist Michael Dicker and oboist Judith Dicker of Illinois State University's School of Music will present a free recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Kemp Recital Hall. The event is part of the Charles W. Bolen Faculty Recital Series, named in honor of the emeritus dean of the College of Fine Arts.
Judith Dicker will begin the recital with Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's "Idillio Concertino" accompanied by pianist Patricia Foltz. She and Michael Dicker, joined by faculty clarinetist David Gresham, will perform Erwin Schulhoff's "Divertissement."
Michael Dicker will then perform the Willson Osborne composition considered to be the masterpiece of unaccompanied bassoon literature, "Rhapsody for Bassoon." The program will end with Mozart's Divertimento in B flat, performed by the Dickers plus faculty horn player Joe Neisler and three music graduate students, oboist Lindsey Merz, horn player Libby Jones and bassoonist Justin Dahlem.
