An afternoon concert on Sunday, Feb. 14, will feature several School of Music choral groups and a variety of musical styles. The 3 p.m. choral showcase will be in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty-staff and $4 for student and senior citizens.
The program will include the Women's Glee Club, conducted by students; Men's Glee Club conducted by Tim Fredstrom; and Belle Voix and Concert Choir, both conducted by Karyl Carlson. Among the Concert Choir's selections will be a Rachmaninoff motet and a piece by up-and-coming Haitian composer Sydney Guillaume.
Three other choral groups to perform, each with a considerable community fan base, are the women's a cappella group Secondary Dominance, men's a cappella group Acafellaz and the Singing Redbirds children's choir. The Singing Redbirds, conducted by Melissa Miller, features community youngsters from 9 to 12 years old who entertain both on and off campus.
