Board of Trustees Approves Two Items

Illinois State University's Board of Trustees approved renewal of the student health insurance contract and a three-year elevator maintenance agreement.

Aetna Life Insurance Company will continue to provide student health insurance for the University.  The renewal rates for fall semester will be 5.6 percent higher than the current academic year's rate of $161.  The increase, which is the first in three years, will be $170 for fall, $170 for spring semester and $126 for summer semester.

The multi-year maintenance elevator contract with Schindler Elevator Company was amended to increase the cost by $600,000.  The $2.2 million original cost was increased to $2.8 million due to the University's compliance with life-safety codes and increased costs for repairs to the 94 passenger and freight elevators throughout campus.  The Board also authorized annual renewals of the contract for up to seven years at an estimated annual cost of $950,000.
