Illinois State University's Board of Trustees approved increasing the East Campus and Watterson Towers project budgets.
The East Campus exterior repair project was originally approved in July 2009 for $1.5 million. The project involves design, replacement of connecting exterior joints on the precast panels, repair of damaged structural precast panels and painting, with the work scheduled to begin this summer. During the design phase, the consultants determined that more repairs are needed than originally anticipated and market costs are higher. The project budget was revised to $2.85 million, which will come from bond revenue reserves - housing.
The Watterson project was approved in July 2009 to replace the emergency generator at a cost of $750,000. During the design of the project, it was suggested that all of Watterson Dining Commons be on full back-up power as well as the air-conditioning system in the elevator equipment room. Those modifications along with doubling the existing fire pumps in Watterson Towers to accommodate new code requirements necessitates an increase to $1.98 million for the project, which will come from auxiliary facilities system bond proceeds and reserves.
